Meerkat Press to Publish Once Upon a Burning World by Jennifer Pullen

We are pleased to announce we’ll be publishing Jennifer Pullen’s debut novel ONCE UPON A BURNING WORLD in 2027. We first worked with Jennifer on our Behind the Mask anthology and are so excited to bring this wonderful book to the world.

Once Upon a Burning World follows Alice and her daughter Emily, a family bound by a deadly bargain with the Faerie Queen: long life and magic in exchange for a daughter each generation. Now, Alice fights to save Emily, while Emily—trapped in an endless childhood—yearns for freedom. As wildfires and melting glaciers threaten the world, the Queen sends Jack Frost to sway Emily into willingly sacrificing herself. Bound magically, Jack and Emily grow closer, complicating the Queen’s plans. When Emily escapes to Seattle and comes into her power, she must choose: save her family and the world, or forge her own fate—and decide what to do about the frost-hearted boy she can’t forget.
